No news is... no news

I have recently featured some of the kids that are special to me and have new photos and updates.

But some kids never get new photos and updates. And they continue to wait. And they continue to desperately need families.

They grow--or perhaps fail to. They have needs that may be changing. But their sites aren't updated....

Juliet has not had any updates since she was listed. She is now one.

Shaun still has no family. It is a miracle he has made it as long as he has if his diagnosis (Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards Syndrome) is correct... he may have mosaic trisomy 18 or another diagnosis altogether... but no one will know for sure unless a family commits to him. In the meantime, we don't have a new picture; we don't have more information; we don't know if his condition has changed.

Sweet Victoria C. (additional children Region 16, bottom of page) is still an additional child. She still has the same picture, holding the same doll. We may not know if she was transferred. We may never get more information about her. But we know her need for a family is not getting less urgent. She is 5. By the pictures of kids born a year earlier--who look to be less happy and with close-cut hair--she may be due for transfer this year.

Lindsey is also 5. Reece's Rainbow does not have her medical information (her agency may). She is said to be calm, independent, and shy. I don't want to see an update that she is transferred; I want her next update to be that she has a family!

Owen has no new updates or pictures. He still needs a family who will love him just as he is, and care for his needs, including any surgeries or other medical care that may be necessary for him. He turned four at the end of last year.

Wyatt has had updates since I first blogged about him, none good. He has many medical needs; he is tube-fed and may have cystic fibrosis. But Wyatt needs a family who will love him and can take care of him. This little boy needs to be adopted or he will die. He just turned 3.

Many orphans

If you are interested in adoption, please check out Adeye of No Greater Joy Mom's "linky thing" to see over 100 orphans who are in dire need of families...

Aging out in a few short weeks or months.
In urgent need of medical care.
Transferred, or about to be transferred.

You will recognize some of these sweet boys and girls...
Bethany. Megan. Wyatt. Maxim. Owen. Shaun. Nicholas. Ivan N. Preston. Sasha. Alix. Ivan. Tatiana. Lexa.

Every one of these precious children deserves a family of his or her own.

Laurel is facing transfer to a mental institution and a life of hopelessness in a matter of months. She has been in an excellent home for children with physical disabilities where the children are nurtured and well-adjusted. All she needs is a family to step forward and say "This is our daughter."

So many need families

Sweet Doyle has a family!

But Bethany and Wyatt lost their families.... Wyatt has additional medical needs. This little boy needs desperately to be saved. He is fed through a tube and is now listed as possibly having cystic fibrosis.

Dorothy needs a family too:

She has Down Syndrome and is only 8 months old. She has a heart defect that will need attention. But she is so little and will benefit so much from having a family soon.

Hope

What do this little girl and this little boy have in common?

They have families trying to adopt them! Hooray!

Please pray that Bethany and Wyatt's families are able to bring them home quickly--Wyatt especially is not doing well.

Here is another little boy who still needs a family:

Darby has Down Syndrome, and also has some craniofacial differences. He had one surgery already and it is likely he will have more in the future, but the first surgery was great for his development. At 2 1/2 he is kind, friendly, and healthy. He is developing within range for his age.

Darby will continue to grow and blossom in a family, but if he is sent to an institution he may not receive the care he needs... he certainly won't get stimulation and the love of a family. This sweet boy deserves a family of his own! Can you give him the hope that Bethany and Wyatt have now? If you aren't Darby's mommy or daddy, you can help by spreading his image and story, donating to his grant, or praying for his family to find him.

Kids are dying.

This is Warner.

Warner died a little while ago while waiting for a family.

I don't know how he died. Maybe he was neglected. Maybe he just got sick. Maybe he had an untreated medical condition, like a heart defect. I don't know whether it was slow or sudden, whether anyone held him. I do know he never knew what it was like to have a mommy and daddy.

I know a lot of the things I talk about are hard things. These things aren't supposed to happen. Every child should be welcomed by his or her parents, raised by his or her parents, and die at a ripe old age. But not talking about kids dying alone won't change the fact that they do. And not thinking about the horrible conditions that they endure in orphanages and mental institutions won't make their conditions better. Some of us will be called to give money. Some of us will be called to bring one of these sweet kids home. Some of us will be called to go to the countries where this is happening and work there to make changes for the better. Some of us are so called to other things, helping people and supporting causes close to their heart, that it really is okay if they don't feel the call to help with the problem of abandoned children in Eastern Europe and Russia. If you are already throwing yourself into following God's will, and He isn't asking you to do anything about this, I'm not trying to guilt trip you. But this has become an issue close to my heart, so I want to make sure these kids have a chance to be loved.

This is Wyatt. He reminds me of Warner. Their names are kind of similar too.

Both kids deserved to be a son and not a statistic. Some of these kids are coming home starving, emaciated, at death's door. But they do come home, and they do make it. Some of them still die--from their medical conditions, from operations to correct them. But they don't starve to death from neglect. And they get to know a family's love.

If God is calling you to become a parent through international adoption, don't wait too long. If Wyatt is your son, don't delay.
